The “Retrofuturisten” are an independent theatre and puppetry company founded and based in Berlin. Our group formed during studies at the “Ernst Busch” Academy of Dramatic Art in Berlin. We are connected by a passion to invent peculiar dystopic scenarios and the quest to find offbeat narrative forms as well as theatrical and aesthetic means. Whether high tech or analogue – always retrofuturistic!

Our works fashion a symbiosis of modern puppet and object theatre, acting, music composed specifically for the respective project.

The group “Retrofuturisten” consists of Roscha A. Säidow (concept, script, stage direction) , Magdalena Roth (concept, performing, puppet design and production) and Franziska Dittrich (permorming, concept). Guest artists and theorists add new perspectives and trains of thought to every production. We seek out the exchange with national and inernational artists to enable our audience along with ourselves to grasp this world we live in.

So far projects by the “Retrofuturisten” have been invited to several guest performances and festivals (i. a. “Kaltstart” festival in Hamburg, puppet theatre festival “Blickwechsel” in Magdeburg, “Die animierte Stadt” festival in Stuttgart).
